Kathmandu — Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa has cast his vote at the Maitidevi Temple–Mayur Kunda polling center in Kathmandu.

Speaking briefly after voting, he said the mandate from this election would shape the roadmap for governing the country over the next five years.

“There was fear that political uncertainty could persist for a long time after the constitution went off track,” he said. “That is why this election was essential to bring the constitution back on track. Even amid doubts about whether the election would take place, voting is being conducted peacefully across the country.”

The Nepali Congress has presented President Thapa as its prime ministerial candidate for the election. He is contesting from Sarlahi Constituency No. 4.
