Case Filed Against 13 People In connection with Sept 9

Kathmandu – A case has been filed against 13 people, including those accused of vandalism and arson at key state institutions on September 9, last year.

The Kathmandu District Attorney’s Office,  has registered  the cases for damage and arson of police offices, courts, and Singha Durbar following a violent protest.

According to Deepak Adhikari, spokesperson for Kathmandu District Attorney, the case has been filed against Ashish Gurung for criminal disorder and robbery in connection with vandalism and burning at Singha Durbar.

Likewise, Sunil Shrestha, Jyati Thapa, Binodkumar Thapa Magar, Kumar Parajuli, and Raju Pariyar have been charged in the Supreme Court arson case alleging that  they incited violence and criminal disorder.

The Supreme Court had earlier filed a complaint with the Kathmandu Police Headquarters, seeking an investigation and action against those involved in the September 9 incident. The case was initiated after police probed the matter based on that complaint.

The charge sheet alleges that Shrestha, Thapa, Magar, Parajuli and others caused damage worth Rs 1,23,62,38,000 by setting fire to the Supreme Court.

In addition, the police have filed charges against Sameer Shrestha and Sunil Tamang for alleged damage at the Boudha Police Station also.

Four other accused—Nikhil Kusule, Sohan Chaudhary, Bibek Rokka, and Chhatrabahadur Bk face charges for damaging the Balambu Police Outpost.

All the defendants are out on been bail.
