England have secured a place in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup semifinals. With two consecutive victories in the Super Eight stage, the team clinched their knockout spot with a game to spare. England captain Harry Brook played a captain’s innings, scoring a century that powered his side to victory.

In their Group 2 match, England defeated Pakistan by two wickets to confirm their semifinal berth. England are also two-time champions of the tournament, having won the title in 2010 and 2022, and this marks their fifth successive semifinal appearance at the T20 World Cup.

Pakistan’s defeat leaves them on the brink of elimination from the competition. To stay in contention, they must beat Sri Lanka in their final Super Eight match and hope that New Zealand lose to England.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Pakistan scored 164-9 in their 20 overs. Sahibzada Farhan top-scored with 63, while Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman added 25 each, and Shadab Khan contributed 23. England’s bowlers kept the scoring in check, with Liam Dawson, Jofra Archer, Jamie Overton and Adil Rashid all taking wickets.

Chasing 165, England struggled early as Pakistan’s bowlers struck regularly. However, captain Harry Brook played a magnificent innings, scoring 100 runs off just 51 balls with 10 fours and four sixes. His century helped England reach the target with five balls to spare. Will Jacks added 28 and Sam Curran contributed 16 as England finished on 166-8.

With this win, England became the first team to qualify for the semifinals of the tournament, while Pakistan now face a must-win scenario in their remaining Super Eight fixture to keep semifinal hopes alive.
