Kathmandu – Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari has said the Election Commission will publish the first-past-the-post results of the House of Representatives election within 24 hours of collecting the ballot boxes.

In an interview with News Agency Nepal, Bhandari said that because this election involves only the House of Representatives, the results are not expected to take long. While the proportional representation results may take one to two days, the Commission is preparing to announce the direct election results within 24 hours after ballots are gathered.

He also said that work to dispatch ballots outside the Kathmandu Valley has been completed, and that ballots will reach areas in Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur by Tuesday evening. Training of polling officers is expected to finish by Tuesday evening as well, after which they will head to their assigned polling stations with all necessary materials.

According to Bhandari, all logistical preparations—from printing to transportation—have been completed and the Commission has entered the implementation phase.
