Kathmandu — Janak Education Materials Centre Limited in Sanothimi reported that it had printed 15.3 million ballots for the direct voting (first-past-the-post) portion of the upcoming House of Representatives election as of Wednesday morning. The general election is scheduled for Falgun 21 (early March).

The centre, responsible for producing election ballots, is ramping up its output. Originally tasked with printing 20.3 million direct ballots in total, it has so far completed 15.3 million. Officials said daily production has recently increased to 1.5 million ballots and that the remaining 5 million ballots are expected to be finished by Friday or Saturday.

Previously, the same facility completed printing and packaging 28.3 million ballots for the proportional representation portion of the election, which will be distributed nationwide between February 10 and 12.

Election authorities are working to meet all logistical deadlines so that ballots can be delivered to all districts well ahead of voting day.
