Kathmandu — Senior Rastriya Swatantra Party leader and House of Representatives candidate from Jhapa-5, Balendra Shah (Balen), has issued a sharp political and moral rebuke of former prime minister and Communist Party of Nepal -Unified Marxist Leninist  Chair KP Sharma Oli.

In responding to a Facebook post in which Oli said he was “ready to debate” among prime ministerial contenders, Balen didn’t just push back against criticism that labeled him a “country burner” — he leveled serious accusations at the leadership itself.

Balen argued that knowing the home addresses of leaders does not equate to “burning the country,” and invoked past events to make his point. He claimed that an effort was made to divert attention from a massacre of children on September 23 by shifting focus the following day, and asked when the leadership would admit to being “terrorists.”

Highlighting the case of 76 children killed, Balen said standing on the same stage with those he holds responsible and their allies would be tantamount to being complicit in the same crime.

He insisted that before discussing any other issues, serious questions of moral accountability must be addressed.
