Kathmandu — Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah has resigned from his post and visited the office of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).

This marks his first visit to the party office since unifying with the RSP. He was welcomed at the office by RSP chair Rabi Lamichhane and other party leaders.

Along with Shah, Sudan Gurung also formally joined the RSP on the same day.

Balen is preparing to contest the House of Representatives election from Jhapa–5 in the upcoming polls scheduled for Falgun 21. The Rastriya Swatantra Party is set to enter the electoral race by projecting him as its prime ministerial candidate.
