Kathmandu — Leaders and workers of the Nepali Congress have converged in Sanepa for a meeting of the party’s Central Working Committee, with cadres currently gathering at the party’s headquarters there. As General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma advance the special general convention agenda, senior figures from the party’s establishment wing have also assembled in Saneepa for the meeting amid rising internal tensions.

The dispute within the Congress has intensified, with Thapa and Sharma expressing their view that they are willing to respectfully bid farewell to longtime leaders including President Sher Bahadur Deuba. However, with Deuba and several other key leaders not in agreement, internal divisions have deepened. The meeting was scheduled for 8 a.m. today to discuss the matter, and is now underway amid ongoing discussions and disagreements.
