Kathmandu — Nepali Congress General Secretary Bishwprakash Sharma said the special general convention will proceed in accordance with the party’s bylaws. Sharma, who visited Bhrikutimandap on Friday to inspect the convention venue, told reporters that once the process for the special general convention is underway, the procedural framework will be developed and leadership selection will follow accordingly.

He emphasized that he is not in favor of showing disrespect or making negative comments about any party leaders, and stressed that the convention process must move forward in line with the party’s statute.

Sharma also said invitations have already been sent to both the party chair and the acting chair to participate in the convention.

“We are not commenting on anyone at the moment. The real question is whether the process will unfold as provided by the party’s statute or not. That is why comrades have called for the participation of the party chair and the acting chair as well. We expect that the special general convention will gradually proceed as a common platform for everyone,” he added.

Sharma expressed confidence that the special general convention, set to begin on Sunday, will advance as a unified forum for the entire party.
