Kathmandu — Nepali Congress General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma has said that holding a special general convention will strengthen the party and will not lead to its split. Sharma warned that if the convention triggered a division within the party, he would be the first to walk out of the hall.

In a social media video message about the special general convention scheduled for Poush 27 and 28 in Kathmandu, Sharma reiterated his commitment to party unity. He sought to dispel rumors and doubts circulating both inside and outside the party regarding the event.

According to Sharma, the special convention is meant to strengthen the party, not split it. He said that if the situation ever moved toward division, “I will be the first to leave the hall to prevent it.”

Sharma’s comments follow similar remarks from fellow General Secretary Gagan Thapa, who has also emphasized the importance of preserving party unity at all costs while pursuing internal reform.
