Amid Internal Turmoil, Nepali Congress Factions Push for Special General Convention

Kathmandu — Amid ongoing disputes, the Nepali Congress has called a special general convention for Poush 27, 28 & 29.

Supporters of the special convention announced the dates. Speaking at a press conference in Kathmandu on Wednesday, the group backing the convention said it was called in accordance with the party’s constitution.

Subas Pokharel, coordinator of the convention’s notice and publicity committee, issued a press release saying the special general convention was convened to fulfill the constitutional requirement for Congress to hold one.

However, supporters of the party’s establishment faction said the special general convention is not legitimate.
