Birgunj – The District Administration Office (DAO), Parsa, has extended the curfew order in the Birgunj Metropolitan area until 6:00 PM today.

Previously, the curfew was in effect from 6:00 PM Monday until Tuesday morning. It was then extended from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM today, and has now been further extended to remain in place until 6:00 PM this evening.

According to Chief District Officer (CDO) Bhola Dahal, the curfew was issued within specified boundaries of Birgunj Metropolitan City under Section 6 (A) of the Local Administration Act, 2028, in consideration of security sensitivities. During the curfew period, movement, gatherings, rallies, demonstrations, meetings, and sit-ins are strictly prohibited.

The administration has designated the curfew zone as: the Bus Park to the East, Sirsiya Bridge to the West, Powerhouse Chowk to the North, and Shankaracharya Gate to the South.

CDO Dahal has urged residents not to leave their homes except for essential services, advising that if they must go out, they should do so only in coordination with nearby security personnel. The administration also stated that security forces have been authorized to take necessary action during the curfew. However, essential service vehicles such as ambulances, fire trucks, and health services will be allowed to operate.
