UML to Ally with Nepali Congress for National Assembly Polls; Oli Authorized to Select Candidates

The CPN-UML has decided to collaborate with the Nepali Congress for the National Assembly elections.

According to UML Deputy General Secretary Lekh Raj Bhatta, Tuesday’s Secretariat meeting discussed partnering with the Congress to field one candidate per province. The meeting authorized Chairman KP Sharma Oli to finalize the seat-sharing arrangement and select candidates. As discussions with the Congress are still ongoing, Chairman Oli has been tasked with bringing the negotiations to a conclusion.

Furthermore, the meeting decided to form various committees to prepare for the House of Representatives (Pratinidhi Sabha) elections scheduled for Falgun 21 (March 5).

According to Bhatta, a Manifesto Drafting Committee has been formed under the coordination of Chairman Oli, featuring Vice-Chairmen Ram Bahadur Thapa and Bishnu Paudel, General Secretary Shankar Pokharel, and leaders Ishwar Pokharel, Pradeep Gyawali, and Bishnu Rimal. Additionally, an Election Mobilization Committee was formed under the coordination of Vice-Chairman Ram Bahadur Thapa, with members including Bishnu Rimal, Chhabilal Bishwakarma, Rajan Bhattarai, Hikmat Karki, Ramesh Badal, and Bhishma Adhikari.
