KATHMANDU — The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Nepal, Chen Song, paid a formal farewell visit to Devraj Ghimire, Speaker of Nepal’s House of Representatives, at his office in Singha Durbar today.

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations, with a focus on expanding economic and development cooperation and enhancing ties between the parliaments of both countries.

Speaker Ghimire expressed his gratitude to Ambassador Song for his contributions throughout his tenure, highlighting the progress made in Nepal–China relations and cooperation. He noted that the celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nepal and China had helped elevate the partnership to new heights in 2025.

Describing Nepal and China as good neighbors, close friends, and reliable partners, the Speaker reaffirmed Nepal’s continued commitment to the One-China principle and assured that Nepal will not permit activities against China’s interests on its soil.

Ghimire also acknowledged China’s support in Nepal’s development, especially efforts to transform Nepal from a landlocked to a land-linked country, and emphasized the importance of implementing agreements under the Belt and Road Initiative and other development projects.

In his remarks, Ambassador Song said that China places high priority on its diplomatic relationship with Nepal and highlighted progress in implementing agreements reached during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit in 2020. He also pointed to growing interest from Chinese business communities in investing in Nepal, noting that despite strong people-to-people ties, economic cooperation still has room to grow.
