Current time demands for Leadership change in UML : Gokarna Bista

Kathmandu — Communist Party of Nepal -Unified Marxist Leninist secretary Gokarna Bista has said that the time demand a transfer of leadership within the party.

Speaking at the 11th General Convention–oriented inter-dialogue program held in Kathmandu on Wednesday, he said the situation has changed after the Gen-Z movement and that leadership change is now necessary in UML.

He argued that it would not be proper to refuse leadership transfer when the country is facing a crisis. “A crisis brings new leadership. The times demand leadership transfer in the party,” Bista said.

He also claimed that this convention will see a handover of leadership.

Bista accused that the party has strayed from its ideology. He criticized that many are willing to form alliances with anyone — motivated by personal opportunity rather than principle — which goes against the party’s ideology.
