Kathmandu defeated Chitwan

In the first match of Friday’s slate under the Nepal Premier League (NPL), Kathmandu Gurkhas defeated Chitwan Rhinos by a comprehensive 53-run margin.

Chitwan, chasing a target of 143, were bundled out for just 89 in 17.2 overs, handing Kathmandu a convincing win. The 89 was the lowest total by Chitwan in the current edition of the tournament.

For Chitwan, Dev Khanal and Ravi Bopara top-scored with 21 each; besides them, only Sohil Tanvir could make any decent contribution, scoring 18. On the mound for Kathmandu, Rashid Khan picked up 3 wickets, while Karan KC, Milind Kumar and Shahab Alam took 2 wickets each.

Earlier, after losing the toss and batting first, Kathmandu were bowled out for 142 — just one run shy of their target — with two balls to spare. Their innings was powered by an aggressive 60 from John Simpson and a solid 38 from Milind.
