Dhangadhi — After being informed about the arrival of Mahesh Basnet of Communist Party of Nepal – Unified Marxist Leninist in Dhangadhi, members of the youth group Gen‑Z took to the streets with placards.

Today, Basnet was due to come to Dhangadhi to address a provincial-level meeting of the UML-affiliated youth organisation in Sudurpaschim. In response to his expected arrival, Gen-Z protesters mobilised on Dhangadhi’s streets, carrying placards with slogans such as “Take back the thugs’ thug” and “You cannot play with Gen-Z’s blood,” signalling their opposition.

Given the potential for disruption — and concerns over Basnet’s security — large numbers of officers from Nepal Police and Armed Police Force Nepal were deployed across the streets.
