Kathmandu — The Communist Party of Nepal -Unified Marxist Leninist parliamentary party has filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court demanding the restoration of Parliament.

Mahesh Bartaula, speaking on behalf of UML, said the petition argues that the dissolution of the House of Representatives was unconstitutional.

Following the Gen Z movement on Bhadra 23 and 24, protests escalated and, in line with Gen Z’s demands, the House was dissolved. An interim government was formed afterwards, headed by Prime Minister Sushila Karki.

UML is opposing both the formation of that government and the snap election scheduled for Falgun 21, and has now taken the issue to the courts.
