Kathmandu – Buddha Air has suspended its Simara flights after increasing tensions in Bara.

Today, local youth strongly protested a program that was supposed to include UML leaders Mahesh Basnet and Shankar Pokharel, creating a tense situation.

As the protest intensified, clashes broke out in some places.

Seeing signs the situation was spiraling out of control, the Bara District Administration Office imposed a curfew.

The administration said it has put sensitive areas under special surveillance and tightened security measures.
