Kathmandu – The Nepali Congress’s Central Committee meeting has commenced.

After being stalled for a long period, the meeting has started on Tuesday midday at the party’s central office in Sanepa. The attendees include Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka, Vice President Dhanraj Gurung, General Secretaries Gagan Kumar Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma, along with Joint General Secretaries and central members.
The party’s General Secretary Thapa had previously abstained from attending the meetings because after regular general convention could not be held, the demand for a special general convention had been raised and the schedule for the convention was not presented.

However, once an agreement was reached to present the convention schedule, he attended the previous meeting.
Since President Sher Bahadur Deuba has gone abroad for treatment, the party’s decisions have not been made. At a time when the anti-establishment group is demanding a special general convention, the establishment group is insisting that the regular general convention should be held — but not before the election.
In the Central Committee meeting, discussions are continuing on timely current issues such as the restoration of Parliament, elections, and the special general convention.
