Kathmandu – Interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki has shown initiative to give full shape to the Council of Ministers. After assuming the leadership of the election government on Bhadra 27 (early September) following the Jenzi movement, Karki has held discussions with the protesting group regarding the expansion of the cabinet.

Prime Minister Karki held talks with Jenzi representatives Miraj Dhungana and Sudhan Gurung on the inclusion of additional ministers in the government.

So far, Karki’s cabinet has eight members in total from two separate appointments. Discussions have begun to include three more members in the government, in line with the commitment to form a minimum 11-member cabinet, with one person handling two ministries.

Her secretariat informed that Prime Minister Karki also held talks with another faction of Jenzi led by Sudhan Gurung.

President Ramchandra Paudel had formed the interim government under Prime Minister Karki’s leadership to hold elections on Falgun 21 (early March). Although President Paudel had advised appointing one representative from each political party in the government, Prime Minister Karki rejected the idea, insisting on keeping the government non-partisan.

She appears intent on including individuals from various sectors of society who are active but not affiliated with political parties.
