A devastating flash flood in the state of Texas has resulted in the death of 13 people, with more than 20 young girls reported missing.

Emergency rescue teams have been dispatched to search for and rescue those affected by the sudden flood. According to local police, the tragic incident has already claimed at least 13 lives, and over 20 teenage girls who were attending a summer camp remain unaccounted for.

Deputy Governor Dan Patrick of Texas reported that the Guadalupe River surged by 26 feet within just 45 minutes, leading to the catastrophic flooding. People in the area are appealing for help in locating their missing relatives through social media.

Citizens have joined the search efforts, according to reports. Officials from Kerr County revealed that the region lacked a flood warning system, which contributed to the suddenness of the disaster, leaving many without time to evacuate.

In the wake of significant loss of life and property damage, all Independence Day events and celebrations across Texas have been canceled.
