Three Airport Police Removed After Video Shows Abuse of Returning Traveler

Three police officers have been removed from their duties for roughing up and mistreating a youth who had returned from the UAE at Tribhuvan International Airport.

SSP Shekhar Khanal informed that the three police officers working at Tribhuvan International Airport have been removed from their responsibilities and summoned to the Kathmandu Valley Police Office in Ranipokhari.

SSP Khanal also informed that after relieving the three individuals of their duties, necessary investigation and inquiry are underway.

A video of police roughing up and mistreating Sanjay Ojha from Morang, who returned from the UAE, went viral on social media. After public criticism and objections regarding the police’s behavior, the Kathmandu Valley Police Office came under pressure to take action against them.

The airport administration faced criticism after a video of police roughly handling and taking Ojha, who returned from the UAE, into the arrival hall around 11 am on Sunday went viral.
