Order to release Ravi Lamichhane on bail
The chairman of the Rstriya Swatantra Party, Ravi Lamichhane, has been ordered to be released on bail.
The District Court of Kaski, under the single bench of Judge Nitij Rai, has ordered his release on bail of 6.5 million rupees on Thursday.
The court issued the bail order in the case of embezzlement of funds from the Suryadarshan Savings and Loan Cooperative in Pokhara.
Ravi, who was arrested on November 18 from the Party’s office in Bansbari, Kathmandu, was in custody at the Kaski police station.
Along with Ravi, former DIG Chhabilal Joshi has also been granted bail of 8.8 million rupees.
Lila Pachaain, involved in the fraudulent activities with Jibi, and Meena Gurung, founder vice-president of the Surydarshan Cooperative, former treasurer Arati Gurung, and former manager Krishna Bahadur Gurung have also been ordered to be released on bail.
The government lawyer’s office filed the case in court on January 7, stating that 151 crore 40 lakh 19 thousand 194 rupees and 3 paisa from 18,700 depositors of Surydarshan Cooperative in Pokhara had been misappropriated.
