Kathmandu – An official ‘sister city’ agreement has been signed between Wyndham City in Victoria, Australia, and Godavari Municipality in Lalitpur.

The agreement was formalized at a special event held in Wyndham City, with Mayor Preet Singh representing Wyndham and Administrative Chief Man Bahadur Khadka representing Godavari. They expressed gratitude to tourism entrepreneur and activist DN Ghising for coordinating the agreement.

Both parties have hailed this cooperation as a significant and historic achievement in expanding international relations at the local level. The agreement aims to foster mutual cooperation, exchange experiences, and develop long-term relations between the two municipalities.

Godavari Municipality in Lalitpur is known for its natural beauty, biodiversity, and cultural heritage, while Wyndham City is recognized for its modern infrastructure, multicultural society, and exemplary sustainable urban development. Both sides have committed to further expanding mutual visits, cultural exchanges, and institutional cooperation in the future.

The event saw notable attendance from entrepreneurs, businesspersons, and local representatives of Nepali origin. Participants welcomed the agreement as a historic step in strengthening the long-standing diplomatic relations between Nepal and Australia at the local level.

Speakers at the event expressed expectations that cooperation in education, tourism, culture, environmental conservation, economic development, and community development would bring long-term benefits to both cities.

It is believed that the agreement will aid in expanding the diplomatic relations between Nepal and Australia, which have been in place for 66 years, to the local level.
