Nepal is burning. Establishing normalcy and securing lives and public and private properties are prerequisites for defining our future destination and charting the path forward. KP Oli, Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda,” Sher Bahadur Deuba, and the Madhesh-centered political forces who held power or influence over the past 19 years are primarily responsible for the current mess the country is in.

However, we now face a pressing need for a serious, unbiased post-mortem analysis of the situation—centered on national sovereignty, peace, stability, and economic development.

The Nepal Army has long stood as the institutional embodiment of the nation’s interest and sovereign independence, from Prithvi Narayan Shah to King Gyanendra.
While the peace process was a welcome move, the foreign agencies including the UN were not very sensitive to the history of the country and the role army played as a nation building institution.
Maoists, and NGOs actively played role to destabilize this institution but in today’s difficult context it’s acting as a facilitating platform.

The door to meaningful change is open. Yet, given the violence and loot across the country has cast doubt over the image and ability of the Gen Z leadership. They have to prove they are different from the corrupt political lot and the system they demolished.

The destruction of national aspiration and physical infrastructure, / assault on state’s institutions like Supreme Court, parliament and Singha Durbar shows the infiltration of criminals in the movement was enormous.

To pave the way forward, it’s essential that current political leaders from all parties in Parliament announce their resignation from public life and let the Gen Z express commitment to expose and bring the lumpen infiltrators to justice.

That will help build a right atmosphere to discuss on the common agenda like what after this constitution and the system goes. Once issues are settled internally, the interim government formation and deciding its responsibility up to holding election to new parliament so that the constitutional void is filled up.
