US envoy’s apology over calling Mustang a ‘Kingdom’

Kathmandu, 10 Nov: United States Ambassador to Nepal Dean R Thompson has apologized for his much criticized comment calling Mustang a Himalayan Kingdom.

Ambassador Thompson’s comment on his social media site ‘X’ on Thursday had triggered many responses, mostly critical.

But he corrected himself on Friday afternoon- “Apologies, friends. To clarify, I was referring to the historical, former kingdom. I should have been clear about that. My trip to Mustang was an incredible opportunity to learn more about Nepal’s diverse cultural and historical richness.”
