Nepalgunj – Upendra Yadav, chairperson of Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal, has criticized Prime Minister Balendra Shah for his statement suggesting that Nepal has encroached on Indian territory, calling it immature.

Speaking at a press meet organized by the Awadhi Journalists Association in Nepalgunj, Yadav, who is also a former Deputy Prime Minister, emphasized that the Prime Minister should speak based on truth, facts, and historical evidence.

He stated, “The Prime Minister showed immaturity by making claims that even India has not made. Such statements put the country in a difficult position.”

Chairperson Yadav also criticized the government’s decisions to impose customs duties on goods worth more than one hundred rupees, evict squatters without alternatives, and levy additional taxes on electricity consumption exceeding 50 units, describing these moves as undemocratic.

Yadav expressed serious objections to the recent appointment of Bhandarilal Ahir as a minister in Lumbini Province under the JSP name. He noted that after the Supreme Court did not recognize Ashok Rai’s party as legitimate, all those who joined were considered JSP Nepal MPs, and the decision to appoint a minister in Lumbini Province was made without consulting the party. He added, “The party decides which JSP Nepal MP should be made a minister. Picking an individual goes against the principles of a multiparty system and democratic norms. We will seek legal remedies once the full verdict from the Supreme Court is available.”

The event, chaired by Rakesh Mishra, president of the Awadhi Journalists Association, was attended by party secretary Kamaruddin Rai, provincial MP Ambika Kafle, and others.
