President Donald Trump has announced that a peace agreement has been reached between the United States and Iran, including the cessation of military actions. “The agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete,” Trump stated in a social media post.

Shortly before this, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had announced on Sunday that a peace agreement had been reached between the U.S. and Iran, with both sides declaring an “immediate and permanent cessation of military actions.”

Sharif posted on X that the agreement is set to be signed on June 19 in Switzerland. According to Sharif, the agreement includes ending military actions in Lebanon, which was a major sticking point for Iran.

Although the full text of the agreement has not been made public, its key points have been discussed for several days: the U.S. and Iran will end their competitive blockades in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s busiest waterways.

They have agreed not to attack each other and to start talks on dismantling Iran’s nuclear program. Iran will receive relief from sanctions targeting its foreign oil sales.

While both sides claim victory, they still harbor deep mistrust towards each other, and serious questions remain about their ability to reach a broader agreement.

Israel’s stance remains unclear, as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government risked the signing ceremony at the last minute by launching new attacks in Lebanon.
