Three-story house sinks in Jhapa due to heavy rainfall

In Birtamod Municipality Ward No. 5, Jhapa, a three-story house in the squatter settlement at the new bus park has sunk into the ground. Due to continuous heavy rainfall, the house belonging to 70-year-old Pahlman Thakur sank into the ground at around 2 AM today. As the house began to tilt suddenly, the people inside and some important belongings were safely evacuated. Only two people were residing in the house. According to the police, the house has tilted approximately 20 to 25 degrees due to the sinking. Considering the potential risk, preparations are underway to completely vacate the house.
