Three siblings die after eating wild mushrooms in Chitwan’s Ichchhakamana

Three children from the same family have died after consuming wild mushrooms in Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality-1, Kulbang, Chitwan. The deceased are nine-year-old Namuna Chepang, 11-year-old Sanjay Chepang, and 13-year-old Manita Chepang.

According to Lok Bahadur Magar, the principal of Rastriya Secondary School Hattibang, Namuna passed away at home on Jestha 1. Sanjay died during treatment last Saturday night, and Manita succumbed to her condition at 6:00 AM today while undergoing treatment at Bharatpur Hospital.

On Baisakh 29, the family of Shyam Bahadur Chepang, consisting of five members, had cooked and eaten mushrooms collected from the forest, after which they fell ill. The three children, who were in critical condition, were taken to Bharatpur Hospital for treatment. Namuna was a second grader, Sanjay a third grader, and Manita a fifth grader, as reported by their school.

The parents of the deceased children remain unharmed. The funeral rites for two of the children have been completed, while preparations are underway to receive the body of the child who passed away today, according to Principal Magar.
