Sudan Kirati has left the Progressive Democratic Party (PDPA). On Wednesday, he announced via social media platform Facebook that he has resigned from the party, including his position as an ordinary member. “I want to inform you that I have decided not to remain an ordinary member of PDPA,” he wrote.

Earlier in Chaitra, he had resigned from the party’s chairmanship council. Alongside Janardan Sharma and Ram Karki, Kirati had left the then CPN Maoist Centre. Later, they formed the PDPA with Baburam Bhattarai and others, but faced a humiliating defeat in the elections. Following the party’s loss, the number of people leaving PDPA has been increasing.

Although Kirati has formally ended his relationship with PDPA, he believes that mutual respect, goodwill, and friendly relations will continue in the future. He acknowledges that the road ahead may not be easy, but he is determined to continue on the path shown by the people’s trust and the sacrifices of martyrs.
