Kathmandu – The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has instructed staff, teachers, professors and administrative personnel not to engage in political activities.

Minister Mahabir Pun has issued strict directions that subordinate employees and professors should refrain from partisan activities and from misusing social media. He also made clear that party organisations among them will not be recognised.

The notice comes at a time when politicisation in education has surged, and Minister Pun has pledged commitment to reforming the education sector.

In the issued notice, he emphasized the need to maintain political neutrality in accordance with professional ethics and the Civil Service Code of Conduct.

Minister Pun called for establishing a professional and politically-impartial environment in educational institutions to ensure quality and educational excellence. He reminded all employees to strictly follow the rules on neutrality and responsible public behaviour as set out in the Civil Service Regulations and related codes.

He warned that employees who fail to comply with the directive will face disciplinary action under existing laws.
