Singer Menuka Poudel undergoes eye surgery at Tilganga

Kathmandu: Menuka Poudel has undergone ‘cosmetic’ eye surgery at Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology (TIO).

The efforts by an expert team of doctors led by Poornima Shrestha of TIO has been able to give her a more comfortable look even without spectacles.

Dr Sanduk Ruit told Desh Sanchar that the currently available technology is just not enough to give her the eye sight back.

‘The operation on Menuka yesterday by the team of Dr Poornima Shrestha will make her easier and comfortable without specs, but the absence of technology so far makes it difficult to give eyesight immediately. If further advanced technology comes, that may be a possibility, but no chance now’, he added.

Menuka, visually impaired singer, born in Jhapa, Nepal was highly applauded for the performance during the ‘Indian Idol’ season 14, singing reality show hosted by India’s Sony TV.

Eliminated at 36th episode of the show, she received the opportunity to lend her voice to many songs in Bollywood.

Previously, she had been into the limelight with several outstanding performances through her journey as top 11 finalists of the Nepal Idol.
