Shots fired outside White House, suspect killed, civilian injured

According to the United States Secret Service, shots have been fired outside the White House again. A suspect involved in the shooting has been killed. It is reported that a civilian was also injured in the incident.

Following the incident, the White House area was temporarily sealed off, but it has now been reopened. It was reported that American President Donald Trump was inside the White House at the time of the incident. The United States Secret Service stated that no security personnel or government operations were affected by the shooting.

Around 6 PM local time, many journalists present in the White House complex heard continuous gunfire. Subsequently, Secret Service security personnel immediately escorted the journalists to the press briefing room inside the building and sealed off the entire White House area.

According to American media sources, between 15 to 30 rounds were fired. Initial reports suggest that a lone gunman advanced towards a Secret Service agent and was shot. However, the agents were not hit and returned fire.

Later reports from American media indicated that two people were injured in the incident and both were taken to the hospital. According to CBS News, one of the injured is the suspect, who is reported to be in critical condition. The other injured person is believed to be a civilian.

President Donald Trump was briefed about the incident. He has not yet made any public comments. This incident occurred exactly one month after a gunman fired shots outside during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
