Seto Machhindranath Chariot festival (in pictures)

The annual Seto Machhindranath chariot festival began on Wednesday with due traditional fervor and reverence.

The five-day festival kicked off at five pm from Machindra Bahal, and the chariot was taken to Asan via Tin Dhara Pathshala on Durbar marg.  On its first day, President Ranchandra Paudel was present at Asan to receive the chariot.

The chariot will pass through its traditional route and reach Hanuman Dhoka today evening following the route –Ashon, Balkumari, Keltole, IndraChowk and Makhan- during the festival.

Seto Machindranath is revered as the god of rain and prosperity.
