Security surveillance in Holi: 3000 personnel deployed

Kathmandu, 24 March: The District Police Range Kathmandu has deployed a total of 3,000 security personnel to prevent any untoward incidents during the Holi (Fagu) festival.

The action would be taken against those involved in unlawful activities, driving vehicles under the influence of drugs and alcohol, making noise consuming alcohol and causing trouble to the people during the Holi festival, said Superintendent of Police Navaraj Adhikari.

“We have urged one and all to celebrate the Holi festival in a civilized and grand manner. Stern action will be taken against those involved in unlawful activities,” he added.

Altogether 2,500 security personnel in uniform and 500 in plain clothes would be mobilized to maintain law and order during the Holi festival this year.

Police began checking from early morning today in Kathmandu Valley to strengthen security and to make Holi festival safe and disciplined.

Similarly, those involving in activities like smearing colours and throwing water-filled balloons would also be brought under the ambit of legal action.
