SC orders against withdrawal of criminal case against Chalaune’s assailants

Kathmandu, 22 June: The Supreme Court today has issued interim order to the government not to withdraw the case filed by Chalaune against a group of university students who had physically assaulted him.

The single bench of justice Manoj Kumar Sharma issued the order.

‘An interim order has been issued on my case. The probability of justice to me has increased’, said Chalaune with Desh Sanchar.

Prem Chalaune, assistant professor in the Tribhuvan University (TU) had filed a writ at the Supreme Court on Wednesday against the government’s decision to withdraw the murder attempt case.

Chalaune was brutally assaulted by NSU cadres on October 6, 2020 within the University premises.

The government had decided to withdraw a case prior to a week of final hearing scheduled on 20 June, 2023.
