Kathmandu – Vivek Yadav from Sarlahi, who attempted self-immolation, has died during treatment. Yadav, who was undergoing treatment at Kirtipur Burn Hospital, passed away at 2 AM last night, according to the hospital’s director, Dr. Kiran Nakarmi.

He was brought to Kathmandu by helicopter immediately after his self-immolation attempt on Friday afternoon and was admitted to the hospital at 7:30 PM.

Vivek, who had completed a Master’s degree in Biology, had been under mental stress for the past year, according to family sources. He had been teaching at a school in Ramnagar, Sarlahi.

However, after the school administration appointed another teacher in his place, he became unemployed for a year. Losing his job had caused him severe mental distress.

According to Vivek’s sister-in-law, Shantidevi Mandal, he had been staying at home for a year after losing his job and had become increasingly mentally disturbed.

Due to this stress, he attempted self-immolation by pouring petrol on himself at Sisautiya Bazaar Chowk in Sarlahi at around 12 PM on Friday.
