Nepalgunj – Residents occupying land designated for Kohalpur town development are hurriedly moving their belongings.

Since yesterday, bulldozers have been clearing the vacated houses, prompting others to request more time to relocate their possessions. Kohalpur municipal police have been assisting the elderly and disabled in moving their items.

The municipal police have been deployed in the settlement since 6 AM today. According to Kohalpur municipal police in-charge Bir Bahadur Thapa, residents are in the process of moving their belongings, and bulldozers will operate in the vacated houses by afternoon. He mentioned that 71 families have contacted the holding center arranged by the municipality at the new bus park.

The area around the proposed international cricket stadium had been encroached upon for years. Some plots of land have been bought and sold multiple times. Buyers of 6-7 plots, priced between 800,000 to 1.2 million rupees, have been defrauded.

Kohalpur municipality has established 16 holding centers. However, it has been found that most residents have arrangements to stay outside these centers.

There are 751 houses and huts on the town development land.
