Manthali (Ramechhap) – Aruna KC from Sallu Pokhare, Manthali Municipality-4, Ramechhap, has left foreign employment to start a goat farming business in her village.

After working for four years in the UK and 11 years in Dubai and Qatar, she developed an interest in returning home to work for herself rather than for others, leading her to start a goat farming business in her village.

“I was inspired by others involved in agriculture and animal husbandry, which motivated me to return to the village and embrace this profession,” KC said.

She has invested around Rs 2 million to build a modern shed for goat farming. KC also plans to engage in poultry, cattle, beekeeping, and coffee farming.

KC mentioned that she started her work in the village in 2081 BS, but has not received any support from any organization so far. However, she has been receiving necessary technical advice from the staff of the Animal Health Branch under Manthali Municipality.

Her father, Chitra KC, is pleased with his daughter’s business. He said, “Among my five daughters, all the others are employed in the city. My wife and I also live in Kathmandu and only occasionally visit the village. I am happy that my daughter, who was in foreign employment, has left her job to engage in agriculture and animal husbandry in the village.”

KC faces a lack of people to help with supervision in the village. Nevertheless, she remains dedicated to goat farming. “I am working as hard as I can and have not lost courage. Let’s see how successful I can become,” KC said.
