Rabi Sinha, India’s new R&AW chief

The Government of India has appointed Rabi Sinha as the new head of Research and Analysis Wings (R&AW).

The letter signed by Dipti Umashankar, Secretary of the Appointment committee of the Cabinet and Establishment Officers has mentioned that Sinha has been appointed as the chief of RAW from July 1.

Sinha is a 1988 Chhattisgarh cadre IPS officer. For the last seven years, he was working as the operation head of RAW. He is a native of Bihar. Sinha joined the RAW from the police service in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led BJP government.

He joined the RAW while he was still the post of SSP. Now he is holding the post of DGP. He led several operations in Jammu and Kashmir and the North East state.

Sinha, who has worked in Pakistan, Afghanistan and China, was second in command after the present Chief of Police, Samant Goel.
