Kathmandu, 12 Jan: President Ram Chandra Poudel has laid a wreath on the pedestal of the statue of Prithvi Narayan Shah.
The President, reaching in front of the West Main Gate to Singha Durbar in the morning- where situates the full body statue of Prithvi Narayan Shah- has paid tribute to the founder of modern Nepal on his 302nd birth anniversary.
The divine speeches of Prithvi Narayan Shah are still relevant and popular, stated President Poudel, sharing his message on the occasion. The divine speeches are guidelines on national economy, patriotism, diplomacy and foreign relations, he added.
The birth anniversary of the builder of the nation, Prithvi Narayan Shah, is commemorated as Prithvi Jayanti on Poush 27 every year across the country.
The government has given a public holiday declaring the Prithvi Jayanti day as the National Unity Day.
