Kathmandu – President Ram Chandra Paudel has called on everyone to adopt a nature-friendly lifestyle and promote activities that improve the environment.

President Paudel stated, “In line with the concept that development and the environment are complementary, I earnestly call upon everyone to adopt a nature-friendly lifestyle and promote environmental improvement activities.”

Extending his best wishes on the occasion of World Environment Day 2026, which falls on June 5, President Paudel remarked, “Through the use of clean energy, tree planting, developing the capacity to adapt to climate change, and conserving natural resources, we can build a safe and green future for coming generations.”

He noted that climate change, pollution, and the excessive exploitation of natural resources pose serious challenges to the global community today. He emphasized that climate change is not just a future threat but is already having visible impacts in the present.

President Paudel expressed his hope that the day would foster greater solidarity and enthusiasm among all citizens and stakeholders for active participation in environmental conservation, green development, and mitigating the impacts of climate change.

In his message, he stated, “Nature and the environment are the foundation of human life. It is our shared right to preserve clean air, pure water, lush forests, and biodiversity. In Nepal, we are witnessing effects such as melting glaciers, irregular rainfall, floods, landslides, and environmental imbalance. On this special day, I wish for it to inspire us all to become aware, responsible, and active in environmental conservation.”

The United Nations has called for June 5 to be observed as World Environment Day each year. This year, the day is being celebrated with the theme ‘A Foundation for a Prosperous Future: Climate and Nature-Friendly Development.’
