President Ram Chandra Paudel has issued the ‘Public Procurement (Second Amendment) Ordinance, 2083’. On Thursday, the President’s Office announced that President Paudel issued the ordinance on the recommendation of the Cabinet, in accordance with Article 114, Sub-Article (1) of the Constitution.

The government introduced this ordinance to further streamline development projects and public procurement processes. The government had suspended the ongoing parliamentary session and forwarded six ordinances to the President for approval.

Among these, the ordinance amending the Cooperative Act was also issued on Thursday, alongside the public procurement ordinance. After the government suspended the session and issued the ordinances, opposition parties expressed their objections and urged the President not to approve them.

As a result, President Paudel consulted with constitutional and legal experts about the ordinances on Thursday.
