Polling Officer Dies After Suddenly Fainting in Sarlahi

According to the District Police Office, Sarlahi, 42‑year‑old Raghunath Mahato—a polling officer working at the Barhathwa Municipality‑5 Health Center—died on Tuesday afternoon around 2 p.m. Mahato was originally from Madhav Narayan Municipality‑6 in Rautahat and was deployed as a polling official for the elections.

Police spokesperson Deputy Superintendent Saroj Rai said Mahato, who was serving as the senior polling officer at the Jigadwa Basic School polling center in Parsa Rural Municipality‑4, suddenly fainted on duty. He was rushed to Provincial Hospital Malangwa, where doctors pronounced him dead at around 2:30 p.m.

The District Police Office Sarlahi has stated that further investigation into the incident is underway.
