Prime Minister Balendra Shah has stated that Nepal has also encroached on India’s border. Speaking in Parliament on Sunday, he addressed questions raised by lawmakers regarding the border dispute, saying that both countries have encroached on each other’s territory.

Shah mentioned that he became aware of Nepal’s encroachment on India’s border only after assuming the office of Prime Minister. He said, “I only found out after becoming Prime Minister that Nepal has also encroached on India’s border.”

The Prime Minister informed that the government is engaged in dialogue with both countries to resolve the Limpiyadhura Lipulekh border dispute.

Shah also noted that the Nepal government has officially sent a diplomatic note to the Indian government regarding the Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura dispute, and a response has been received. The response from India expressed a commitment to resolve the issue through talks involving historians, surveyors, and land experts from both countries.

He further stated that discussions have been held not only with India and China but also with the United Kingdom. Shah said, “The Nepal government has officially sent a diplomatic note to the Indian government, and a response has been received. The response involves both governments placing their historians, surveyors, and land experts to resolve the matter through talks. We have also engaged with the UK government, as the issues from the time of British India’s departure still persist here, and we believe the UK should also be concerned. We want to inform that all these matters will be resolved through diplomatic talks.”
