Phulpati from Gorkha Palace Brought to Hanuman Dhoka as Part of Dashain Tradition (PHOTOS)

The Phulpati brought from the Gorkha Palace for Dashain has been taken into the Hanuman Dhoka Palace at Basantapur. Every year, the Phulpati brought from the Gorkha Palace for Dashain is brought to the Dashain Ghar (Dashain House) of Hanuman Dhoka Palace.

This morning at the auspicious time of 7:30 AM, attendants from the Gorkha Palace performed rituals and sent the Phulpati to the Hanuman Dhoka Palace.

After King Prithvi Narayan Shah of then-Gorkha started his reign from the Hanuman Dhoka Palace, it became a tradition to bring a decorated palanquin with Phulpati from the Dashain Ghar of Gorkha Palace to Hanuman Dhoka Palace in Kathmandu every year on the seventh day of the Dashain festival.

That tradition continues to this day.
