PHC invites complaints against prospective CJ Karki within ten days

Kathmandu, 30 May: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC) has called for complaints if any against Hari Krishna Karki who has been recommended for the post of the Chief Justice (CJ) by the Constitutional Council (CC).

‘The complaints should be registered within 10 days beginning from today’, the Committee said, adding ‘besides letters, complaints can also be filed via mail’.

While the committee has assured protection of the complainants by keeping the names confidential upon request, anonymous complaints would be given lesser priority.

Acting CJ Karki had been recommended for the post by the CC on 8th May.

Karki has been serving as the acting CJ for almost 15 months after political parties registered an impeachment motion against CJ Cholendra Shumsher Rana leading to his suspension till his retirement in September.

The PHC meeting today chaired by the senior most (on age ground) Committee member Pashupati Shumsher JB Rana also provided the personal details of Karki to members of the Committee.
