Parsa police arrest eight drug users during rehabilitation campaign in Birgunj

In Birgunj (Parsa), Parsa police have arrested eight drug users over two days as part of a campaign to identify and rehabilitate drug users.

The police conducted this operation on Friday and today under the drug user identification and rehabilitation campaign.

According to district police office spokesperson Haribahadur Basnet, eight individuals were apprehended at the Shankaracharya Gate checkpoint in Birgunj Metropolitan-16. They were found with drugs concealed in their belongings while entering Nepal from India on foot and in vehicles.

The eight individuals, who came from Raxaul, India, were found in possession of brown heroin and tablets, leading to their arrest. The district court in Parsa has extended their detention by five days for further investigation, Basnet stated.

Among those arrested, Vikas Kumar Sah, whose address is unknown, was found with 600 milligrams of brown heroin. Similarly, 600 milligrams of brown heroin were seized from Kabin Parajuli. Sagar Ghimire, Pooja Jimbwa, Anjan Thapa, Ramesh Bamjan, Raju Baniya, and Alihadan Miya were found with smaller quantities of brown heroin and banned tablets, among other drugs.

The police also reported seizing a motorcycle with the registration number Madhesh Province 03-028 P 7656 from the drug users.
